Paso a paso

Perform prophylaxis of the teeth, leaving the tooth surface free from biofilm. Select and record the patient’s teeth shade with a shade guide and/or photograph prior to starting whitening.Foto 1 13 300x200 300x200

Proceed to the insertion of the Arcflex (FGM) lips retractor, to facilitate access and handling of the buccal cavity, and then apply Desensibilize KF 2% for 10 minutes on the teeth that will be whitened.Foto 3 8 300x200

Upon applying the desensitizing agent, remove the gel and dry the teeth and gums with air jets. Make the relative isolation by applying the light-curing resin Top dam (FGM).Foto 2 13 300x200 300x200

With the auto mixing pointer duly coupled to the double-body syringe that contains the whitening gel, press the piston until the phases (peroxide and thickener) are slowly mixed. A small quantity of gel should be dispensed into a container prior to applying the product to the patient’s teeth. It will assure that the applied product is properly homogenized.Foto 3 8 300x200

Directly apply the gels to the teeth to be whitened, generally from the 1st or 2nd premolars to the other. Cover the vestibular face of the teeth with a gel layer as thin as possible, using the auto mixing pointer to spread the product. The gel may be extended to the small incisive/occlusal surface area of the teeth. If you wish to use a light source device, start using it shortly after applying the gel. For each equipment, there is a specific protocol of light exposure time. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the light application time, however, observe the time protocol to apply the product onto the teeth.Foto 3 8 300x200

After applied, the gel must be left in contact with the teeth for up to 50 minutes, during which the professional may move the gel with a probe or disposable micro applicator, such as Cavibrush (FGM), in order to remove the air bubbles and renew the contact between gel and teeth. There is no need to change the gel during the session. Note: application times for whiteners are only suggested and must be managed by the professional. Shorter times or treatment interruptions may occur in cases of dental hypersensitivity.Foto 3 8 300x200

At the end of the session, remove the gel with the thin suction cannula, and wash the teeth thoroughly. Removal of the gum dam may be performed with a probe or similar.Foto 3 8 300x200

Polish the teeth with the Diamond Excel (FGM) polishing paste, and Diamond (FGM) or Diamond Flex (FGM) felt disks.Foto 8 300x200

The patient should return after 7 days, allowing the effective assessment of the teeth’s shade. If required, further whitening sessions may be performed according to the above steps. In general, we recommend 2 to 3 whitening sessions to achieve good results.Foto 3 8 300x200

Important Notes
1. To prevent dental hypersensitivity during and after treatment, Desensitize KF2% (FGM) (potassium nitrate at 5% and sodium fluoride at 2%) may be used prior to whitening, in a prophylactic character. The option of applying the desensitizer after whitening is also valid, however less efficient in certain cases. In both cases (prior to or after applying the whitener), Desensitize KF2% (FGM) should be applied to the teeth for 10 minutes. In cases of high hypersensitivity after the session, Desensitize 0.2% (FGM) (at-home use desensitizer) may be applied for 10 minutes into an individual mold, by the patient, on daily basis until the symptoms disappear.

Important Notes2. Monitor patient throughout the whitening regarding dental hypersensitivity and possible spots of peroxide irritation in soft tissues. Cracks on the enamel or exposure of dentine may cause acute and intense pain. In these cases, we recommend interrupting the treatment, seeking corrective treatment prior to resuming.

Important Notes3. If the whitening obtained does not meet the expectations, and the patient does not present hypersensitivity or other issues, you may reapply the product for up to two more sessions, totaling three sessions. If more than one session is required, consider a minimum interval between sessions of 7 days.
