Post-processing instructions
Whenever handling resin or working on equipment in areas contaminated by uncured printing materials, wear safety goggles, a mask, and properly sized powder-free nitrile gloves.
- After the printing process is complete, disconnect the print bed from the printer, following the equipment manufacturer's instructions.
- Using a metal spatula, remove the printed part from the build plate;
- Carefully remove the printing supports from the printed part manually. Do not apply excessive force to the printed object—too much force may damage the part during this step. Supports that are harder to remove can be cut using a small cutting plier. Do not worry if small remaining support marks are left; these can be removed during the finishing process.
VoxelPrint Ceramic can be properly cleaned using any of the methods described below:
Step 1:
Using a paper towel, remove uncured material from the surface of the printed part. With a cloth soaked in ethanol (>90%), clean the printed part, completely removing uncured resin. It is recommended to use a soft-bristle plastic brush to assist in this removal, as well as a micro applicator to clean hard-to-reach areas such as holes and cavities with sharp corners. In this method, avoid leaving the part in contact with alcohol for more than 1 minute; when wiping with the cloth, immediately remove areas visibly wet with alcohol.
Step 2:
With a paper towel, remove uncured material from the surface of the printed part. After this step, immerse the printed part in an agitator containing 40% alcohol, which can be a mechanical agitator or an ultrasonic cleaning device, for up to 3 minutes. Household alcohol is not recommended, as it may contain other chemical compounds unsuitable for use. Therefore, it is recommended to manually dilute from 92%, 96%, or 70% alcohol.
Step 3:
Using a paper towel, remove uncured material from the surface of the printed part. After removing the excess, use a steam generator (steamer type, with high-pressure steam) to apply high-pressure steam to the part, completely removing uncured material. Air pressure will also assist in this removal.
Note: due to its high glass-ceramic content, when immersed for a certain time in ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, printed parts develop a whitish matte surface finish, which can only be removed during the polishing stage or by sandblasting. Immersion in these high-concentration solvents may impact the product’s mechanical properties. Therefore, perform cleaning using one of the three methods described above.
To achieve the desired mechanical properties and biocompatibility, VoxelPrint Ceramic must undergo a post-curing process in a UV light system with appropriate intensity and time.
- After cleaning and drying, allow the printed part to rest for at least 10 minutes to ensure it is free of alcohol residues.
Each curing device has different intensity and wavelength characteristics. These factors directly affect curing time and the final properties of the material.
